Mimir End User Licence Agreement
Version: 1.0, 29 October 2026
This licence is between you and Shieldwall Games Ltd, company number 12655497 ("Shieldwall"). It covers the Mimir desktop application and its updates (the "Software"). You accept it when you choose I accept the first time you open Mimir. If you do not agree, choose Decline and do not use the Software.
Your use of Mimir's online services and anything you buy is covered by the Mimir Terms of Service at shieldwallgames.co.uk/terms.html. If this licence and the Terms disagree, the Terms win.
1. Your licence
Shieldwall gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on computers you own or control, for any lawful purpose, including commercial projects.
2. Your worlds are yours
The Software reads and writes plain files on your computer. Everything you create with it belongs to you. Shieldwall claims no rights in it. Ending a subscription, or this licence, never deletes, locks or changes your files.
3. What you may not do
You may not, except where the law allows it despite this restriction:
- sell, rent or sublicense the Software;
- remove or change any copyright or trademark notice in it;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, or get around any feature that controls access to paid features or online services.
4. Open-source parts
The Software includes open-source components. Each is licensed under its own terms. Their notices are installed with Mimir: resources/licences/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt (with the font and speech-model notices beside it), and LICENSE.electron.txt and LICENSES.chromium.html in the folder where Mimir is installed (on a Mac, inside Mimir.app/Contents/Resources). Nothing in this licence limits your rights under those terms.
5. Updates
The Software checks for updates and downloads them in the background. A downloaded update installs the next time you close Mimir; Mimir never restarts on its own. Updates are covered by this licence unless they come with a new one.
6. Data
The Software keeps your worlds on your computer. It contacts Shieldwall's services when you sign in, use online features, check for updates, or send a crash report (which you can switch off in Settings → Crash reports). The Privacy Policy at shieldwallgames.co.uk/privacy.html explains what is sent.
7. No warranty beyond the law
The Software is provided with reasonable care and skill, and as described. Apart from that, and to the extent the law allows, it is provided "as is". Please keep your own backups of your worlds as well as Mimir's version history.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described. Nothing in this licence affects them.
8. Liability
Shieldwall is not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in this licence limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
9. Ending the licence
You can end this licence by uninstalling the Software. Shieldwall can end it if you seriously break it. When it ends you must stop using the Software. Your files remain yours.
10. Law
This licence is governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of your local law and can use your local courts.
