Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Shieldwall Games Ltd collects, how we use it, and what your rights are. Mimir is still in development, so this policy distinguishes the website and beta systems that exist today from online account, AI, collaboration, and hosting services that will be finalised before public launch.

The local-first principle

Mimir is designed so that your primary worldbuilding files live on your own device. Shieldwall does not receive a copy of a local world merely because you create, open, edit, search, map, or browse it in Mimir.

Data leaves your device only when you deliberately use a feature that needs an online service, such as Mimir AI, account services, collaboration, or hosted worlds.

What we collect

Email addresses. If you sign up for the Mimir beta waitlist or the Ashborn launch notification list, we collect your email address and any optional information submitted through that form.

Account and subscription data. When Mimir account services launch, Shieldwall will need to process information such as account identifiers, authentication records, subscription tier, credit balances, purchase entitlements, AI usage records, and security/session metadata needed to run the service.

Hosted project data. If you choose to create or join a hosted Mimir world, collaborative workspace, or hosted Proving Grounds experience, the content and permissions needed for that hosted experience must be stored or synchronised online. This does not turn your unrelated local worlds into hosted data.

Mimir AI request data. When you use an AI-backed feature, Mimir sends the instructions and world context needed to perform that specific operation through Shieldwall's broker to an AI API provider.

Basic web analytics and server logs. We may process aggregated website usage, referral information, security logs, IP addresses, and similar technical records needed to operate, protect, and understand the service. We do not sell this information for advertising.

How we use your data

We use personal data only for purposes connected to the service you asked us to provide: product communications, account access, subscription and credit administration, fraud/security controls, AI requests, collaboration/hosting, customer support, and service improvement.

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not claim ownership of your Mimir worlds or creative work.

Mimir AI

Customer-facing AI is provided as Mimir AI. Shieldwall may change the underlying provider or model routing over time so long as the data handling remains consistent with this policy and applicable law.

The current development integration uses Anthropic APIs. The final production subprocessor list and retention configuration will be published before public AI billing opens. Shieldwall's production design is to send only the context required for an operation rather than uploading an entire lorebible by default.

Shieldwall does not use your private world content to train its own public generative-AI model. Any third-party AI processor will be selected and configured under the data-processing terms applicable to its API service.

Collaboration and hosted worlds

Hosting is optional. If you use it, Shieldwall must retain the hosted content, permissions, participant data, and synchronisation state necessary to make that shared experience work. The local copy of a world and the hosted copy are conceptually separate: the existence of one does not grant Shieldwall access to every other world on your device.

Retention periods, deletion controls, backup behaviour, and hosted downgrade/archive rules will be documented before hosted billing opens.

Third parties and subprocessors

MailerLite. We use MailerLite to manage mailing lists and product communications. Your email address and mailing preferences may be stored on their systems. You can read MailerLite's privacy policy.

GitHub Pages. The current public website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process server logs such as IP addresses. You can read GitHub's privacy statement.

Production account, hosting, payment, and AI providers. Mimir's final production infrastructure is still being completed. Before paid checkout and hosted services open, this policy will be updated to identify the subprocessors actually used for account data, payments, hosted storage/realtime services, and Mimir AI.

Payments

Shieldwall does not intend to store full payment-card details itself. Paid subscriptions and purchases will be processed through the payment and commerce providers identified in this policy and at checkout when those services go live.

Cookies and local storage

The current website does not use advertising tracking cookies. It may use browser storage for functional preferences such as theme or interface state. Third-party embedded services, including mailing forms, may set their own technically necessary storage according to their policies.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in those messages. You can also contact Shieldwall to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or other rights that apply under data-protection law.

Some records may need to be retained where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or dispute purposes. Where a request applies, we will explain any lawful reason that prevents immediate deletion of a particular record.

International processing

Some service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where required, Shieldwall will rely on an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism and the provider terms applicable to that processing.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the production account, payment, hosted collaboration, and AI infrastructure is finalised. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date and any additional notice required by law.
