Build the session before the session.
The GM assembles scenes from existing world entries, maps, media and story material. Preparation is private by default. Nothing reaches players until the GM deliberately publishes it.
A campaign session starts long before the table sits down. In Mimir, preparation means pulling together the world entries, maps, encounter notes and story beats that a scene needs, then arranging them into a structure the GM controls.
Every piece of preparation draws from the connected world already built in Mimir. Characters, places, factions, events, maps and media are referenced, not duplicated. When the source entry changes, the scene reflects it.
- Scene creation from connected world entries
- Map and media attachments per scene
- Story material and encounter notes
- Private by default until explicitly published
Hidden means absent, not concealed.
Mimir does not CSS-hide secret content. Hidden information is absent from the data players receive.
When a GM marks material as hidden, the player's browser never receives it. There is no inspect-element path to secrets. The content is excluded from the payload before it leaves the server, not masked after it arrives.
Players see only what the GM has explicitly published. When the GM revokes visibility, a stale page cannot access material after permissions change. The security model means that hidden is structurally absent, not visually suppressed.
This is a deliberate design decision. Campaign management tools that rely on display rules leave information accessible to anyone willing to open a browser inspector. Mimir treats GM control as a data boundary, not a styling choice.
Your table sees what you choose.
Players use the browser or mobile companion to access the campaign. They see authorised scenes, persistent knowledge, notes and maps.
The player experience is designed around what the GM has chosen to share. Authorised scenes, a persistent "What I Know" journal, personal notes, session information and published maps form the player's view of the world.
Players do not browse the full world. They see the parts the GM has released, and their own accumulated knowledge grows as the campaign progresses. Co-GMs receive delegated operational tools to help run the session alongside the primary GM.
Free Mimir Core users can join as players under the host's subscription. Players do not need their own paid plan to participate in a hosted campaign.

The host subscribes. Players join free.
Campaign hosting starts at Apprentice. Players and Co-GMs join within the host's participant allowance without needing their own paid subscription.
The GM who creates and hosts the campaign carries the subscription. Players use Mimir Core and are invited into the hosted experience at no additional cost to them. This keeps the barrier to joining a campaign as low as possible.
Participant allowances scale with the host's subscription tier. A small group works within Apprentice. Larger tables and communities have room at Worldsmith and Loremaster.
These are beta planning allowances and may be adjusted before paid checkout opens. See Pricing for current tier details.
Common questions
- Yes. Mimir Campaign is designed for Game Masters running tabletop RPG sessions, including D&D, Pathfinder and other systems. You prepare scenes from the connected world you built in Mimir, control what players can see and run sessions from that material. Mimir is system-agnostic: it manages your world and campaign, not a specific ruleset.
- No. Players join on Mimir Core, which is free. The GM hosts the campaign under their own subscription, and invited players participate within the host's allowance. Players do not need a paid plan to join a hosted campaign.
- Hidden material is absent from the data players receive, not merely hidden with CSS or display rules. Players cannot inspect the page to find unpublished content. When the GM changes what is visible, a stale page cannot access material that has been withdrawn.
